In defense of Beyonce: Let’s see you sing the national anthem

Beyonce has been making headlines because people are trying to dissect and assess whether or not she lip-synched singing the national anthem at President Obama’s inauguration. We’re now reading reports that say that Beyonce did use a backing track while singing and “she didn’t think there was anything wrong with it,” a source from Us Weekly explained. “Pavarotti has done it! It was freezing out, and if she messed up just one note, that would have been the story.” Other factors supporting using the back track have also been thrown into the discussion such as temperature affecting the throat of a singer, as Aretha Franklin told ABC, “the weather down there was about 46 or 44 degrees and for most singers that is just not good singing weather.”

Can we just drop it people? Let’s see you sing the national anthem in front of an audience that is estimated at a million attendees, not to mention the millions at home in the United States, and all over the world. Personally, that’s a lot of pressure, even for the Queen Bey. Let’s cut her some slack, shall we? What’s the alternative? Beyonce screwing up and she becoming an international laughing stock? Beyonce’s paid her dues! It was a grand performance and she has had many live performances to prove herself worthy to sing for the president. Let’s leave it at that and remind ourselves that at least we don’t look like this guy.

Beyonce will be performing at the 2013 Brit Awards, be sure to tune into MUCH when we air it on Wednesday, February 20 at 10E/7P.
