The singer knew her mother would be a little upset with the sexual overtones in the promo, in which she writhes around in rags with a band of scantily-clad male dancers.
Rowland held a private screening so that her mother could be with her when she first saw it, reports dailystar.co.uk.
'She was like, 'Lord have mercy!' She said, 'I have to keep remembering that you're 30 years old because whatever was happening on that set, was way too much',' said Rowland.
But she explains: 'There's nothing wrong with being a vixen... I'm just celebrating being a woman, and my sexuality.'
