ASIAN SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT: SLICK TRAILER FOR "THE TASTE OF MONEY", ENDEARING ONE FOR "STARRY STARRY NIGHT", DYNAMIC ONE FOR JACKIE CHAN'S "CHINESE ZODIAC"

 OK, people, this Sunday HOLLYWOOD SPY is spotlighting a number of interesting, very different Asian films which are hitting cinemas later this year.Some of them are bringing warm fantasy, some hot sex scenes, and some heated action!

 THE TASTE OF MONEY

First something unusual from Asian film world: extremely slick trailer for South Korea's Im Sang Soo's THE TASTE OF MONEY movie. The extremely stylish thriller follows Young-jak , who is a private secretary of madam Paik, the centre power of Korean conglomerate, and who witnesses immoral private issues of her wealthy family.

Meanwhile, he finds out that madam Paik's husband, Mr. Yoon is having affair with their Filipino housemaid, Eva. He reports what he witnessed to madam Paik, and now despaired madam Paik is greedily seducing Young-jak in order to keep him on her side . Young-jak is deeper into madam Paik's family issues when he finds out the brutally killed Eva. Lost between his morality and shortcut to successful life, he has to make the biggest decision he's ever made, to choose whom he will hang on to, in order to survive in this harsh world, where he wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

 STARRY STARRY NIGHT

Something quite different from what we are used to seeing in Asian film comes in Tom Lin's STARRY STARRY NIGHT. Something very

warm and magical. Opening this summer at some of Northern American film festivals, the film brings the slightly fantastical tale of Mei, a 13-years old girl trying to deal with growing up, while still escaping to her own fantasy world when real-life problems prove to be too daunting to face. Mei finds a companion in Lee, an introverted young boy who just transferred from another school into Mei's class. When Mei's parents decide on a divorce, Mei runs off with Lee in search of a moment of untainted happiness and maybe even some romance.

 CHINESE ZODIAC

Definitely one of the most anticipated Asian films this year is CHINESE ZODIAC which is very interesting because its lead star Jackie Chan has announced that this will be his last big action packed movie due to

  his age and health, and he apparently wants to dedicate more time to his family. According to "Twitch" the 58-year old actor is the action choreographer, writer, director and producer for the film, and has spent seven years preparing and one year shooting in over ten cities in five countries. It therefore comes as no surprise that Chan called this 'one of the most important films' of his career. The globe-trotting adventure has Chan's character searching for the 12 bronze heads of the Chinese zodiac. The film has a rather interesting premiere date as it is due for release on 12/12/12.
