Twiggy (real name: Lesley Lawson), now 63, who was named the face of 1966, has been captured on camera so many times that the "National Portrait Gallery" exhibition was a roll-call of leading photographers.

It has to be noted that it included the photos by Barry Lategan with her trademark cropped hair which made her name in 1966, and images by Cecil Beaton, John Swannell, Terry O'Neill and both the late Linda McCartney and her daughter, Mary. There are also shots taken in 2000 by Bryan Adams and last year by Solve Sundsbo.

Announcing the display and a book called "Twiggy: A Life in Photographs", Twiggy was quoted as saying: "Over my career, I've had the privilege of working with many great photographers. I'm very excited to see so many of these portraits coming together at the National Portrait Gallery".

"It's really interesting to see how fashion photography and portraiture have evolved throughout my career" Twiggy added.

Photographer Lategan stated: "Those pictures are known throughout the world and I'm proud to have been associated with her success. I am just amazed that she has maintained her elegance and poise."
