1. I love it when someone insults me. That means that I don't have to be nice anymore.
2. It doesn't matter about money; having it, not having it. Or having clothes, or not having them. You're still left alone with yourself in the end.
3. If your world doesn't allow you to dream, move to one where you can.
4. The biggest misconception people have about me is that I'm stupid.
5. I don't care what stage or what reason, as long as we're playing.
6. Rock isn't art, it's the way ordinary people talk.
7. I rocked the cradle of love.
8. Everybody got it wrong. I said I was into porn again, not born again.
9. I've still got that energy…I'm still that pissed off. And I still can't get a job.
10. It was a natural progression with the band.
11. In 1995, I ran into a brick wall…I had no band anymore, and the music business was getting quite soulless. It seemed like the big record companies were mostly interested in eating each other and promoting music as product. They didn't really believe in rock and roll anymore. How was someone like me going to fit into that? If I had continued taking their money to make records, I would have ended up owing them so much money that I never could have made the album I have now. They wanted my soul in hock, and I refused to fall into their trap. I just stopped putting out records when I knew they would turn out shitty, and I waited until I found a company (Sanctuary) that really wanted a Billy Idol record. It's not just a (expletive) job! You can't go out there with people you hate and music that sucks. I suppose it was a gamble staying away so long, but it's paid off because I'm happy. I'm happy to be Billy Idol with a quality Billy Idol record. How's that for a marketing tactic?
12. We were all following in their path. I believe I'm still following in their path today.
13. I don't play 100% punk rock music.
14. I still put that into Devil's Playground. I believe there's a punk rock attitude to it. I don't think if you put it on you'd necessarily go: "That's punk rock," but I've never lost the punk rock attitude.
15. I think people can see that if anything I kept the alternative thing in MTV…If they hadn't had me it would have been just Madonna and big-hair bands. It was a great combination of punk and rock, and I've gone on to do that today.
16. (I) just had to show there's life in the old dog yet. (You) don't have to go out and shoot me.
