The ex-cop wanted for murder is close to being captured after a shoot out with police has left two more cops injured. Keep reading for the most up-to-date coverage.
Christopher Doner is doing his best to escape police as they chase him in Big Bear, a mountain-packed area of California on Feb. 12. He is a suspect in the murder of three people, including a cop.
CNN is reporting two officers have been shot as of 4:40pm EST on Feb. 12.
TMZ is reporting that Dorner is “cornered by cops” and “pinned down” but that he is using smoke grenades to provide space between him and police.
CNN and TMZ are both reporting that a home invasion and car jacking lead to a road block in the area when Dorner was discovered. Dorner is reportedly in a white Dodge pickup truck being chased by police.
As reporters start to circle the scene, TMZ is reporting that police are yelling at the media to “get the f**k out” of the area.
Schools On Lockdown
CNN is reporting that schools in the Big Bear area are on lockdown as Dorner is still on the loose.
A Failed Attempt To Catch Dorner
Since the reward for his capture reached $1 million, cops have been fielding tips of citizens who believe they saw Dorner.
On Feb. 11, police raided Hotel Tapatio in Tijuana, Mexico, after someone reportedly saw Dorner on the grounds. The hotel is just across the border from San Diego, California.
Twenty officers searched the hotel but found no proof that the murder suspect was there.
“There’s no evidence whatsoever that he’s crossed into either Tijuana or Mexicali,” Alfredo Arenas told UTSanDiego.com on behalf of the Baja California State Preventive Police.
