‘American Idol’ auditions went to the next level on Feb. 7 as some of our favorites were sent packing after solo night! The cuts were intense — find out who went home below.
The men continued their auditions in front of judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, and Randy Jackson, and the solo auditions proved too stressful for some! Check out the full recap of the Feb. 7 episode below.
As the contestants prepared for their first solo performance with a full band backing them, the nerves were high and the tension was thick! Since the judges were making cuts after every eight singers, the contestants didn't have to wait too long for their results.
Those Who Went Through
Paul Jolley was first and could barely speak he was shaking so badly! But he had an amazing voice. He was criticized by Nicki for being so "defeated" on stage – she wished he had more professionalism.
Lazaro Arbos sang Lady Gaga and sounded great. Mariah called Curtis Finch Jr.'s performance "absolutely beautiful."
Devin Velez got a standing ovation from Randy in the a capella round. In his solo performance, he sang "Wonderful World."
More Standout Performances
Gurpreet Singh Sarin played the guitar and brought his usual charm. Cortez Shaw was also sent through.
Nick Voddington took a risk by playing the piano and it paid off! We’ll see him next week!
Those Who Missed The Mark
Matheus Fernandes expressed his gratitude for being there but unfortunately, fell flat on Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger."
Papa Peachez failed miserably with Lady Gaga's "You And I" and was sent packing.
Micah Johnson's inspirational story and amazing voice were not enough to woo the judges and he was eliminated.
We also said goodbye to the talented Nate Tao.
A Big Curveball
All of the guys who made it through were brought back onto the stage and told by Randy that eight more guys will be cut next week. Hollywood is tough!
